  DESCRIPTION:
 
    This harness is for use with LUMEFLEX™ stranded cable and is easily field assembled by bundling the cable into it and trimming the fiber ends evenly with a choice of Lumenyte's hot knives1. Packing fibers are included to complete the harness assembly. Packages of 100 packing fibers can be ordered separately.

FIELD HARNESS ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
PS-HARN STRANDED CABLE
 
  1. Score the cable jacket along the side linearly about 7 inches, being very careful
    to avoid cutting clear through and damaging the fiber inside.

  2. Carefully cut the jacket clear through only about an 1/8th of an inch at the end.

  3. Split the jacket by taking the cut end and pulling the scored jacket apart.

  4. Cut off the excess jacket.

  5. With scotch tape, bind the end of the now loose fiber.

  6. Slide the fiber into the harness until the cable jacket touches the compression
    fitting. The fiber should extend out of the harness approximately an inch.

  7. Pack harness with 12” excess fibers 360° around the active fiber bundle creating
    a snug fit. Be sure that the fiber extends out of the compression fitting, and then
    tighten the fitting hand tight and complete with wrench 1/4 turn. DO NOT allow
    cable jacket to enter compression fitting.

  8. After hot knife has warmed up, with the blade at approximately a 20° angle,
    push the hot knife (flat edge down) across the face of the harness slowly cutting
    the fiber flush with the harness. DO NOT leave hot knife on the fiber for an
    extended amount of time, avoiding hot spots or overly melted fiber.

  9. Allow hot knife and harness to cool.
